True Blue Cuisine was first opened in November 2003 by Mr Benjamin Seck in Katong. And in 2008, they were invited by the Peranakan museum in Armenian Street to open up a new premise to compliment the museum. True Blue Cuisine has been very popular with tourists and locals because of its brilliant decor, excellent service and authentic Peranakan delicacies.
Mr Benjamin, who is also the cook, is very proud of his family-run business. He cooks in the night while his mum, Ms Daisy Seah, cooks in the day. The recipes are from his late grandmother whom he fondly calls Mama. He credits the success of his restaurant to his late grandmother, who passed on the authentic Peranakan recipes to his mother and him.
Till date, True Blue Cuisine has won various awards including the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2016 and 2017. Mr Benjamin recommends his signature Ayam Buah Keluak dish to all his patrons and says this particular dish makes or breaks any Peranakan restaurant. “If you go to a Peranakan restaurant, always try the Ayam Buah Keluak first. If it tastes good, every other dishes will be equally good. Its one dish that can tell you how good the restaurant is,” says Mr Benjamin.
